READ MY STORY, YOUR BEST FRIEND COULD BE NEXT!!!! We have been taking an older beagle, Buddy, to this place for a couple years. Knowing that beagles are prone to diabetes, we asked to have blood work done several times, and were advised that he is healthy and fine. During the 2010 holidays, our Buddy became very ill and we promptly took him to an emergency vet in North Charleston. There seemed to be something wrong with his lower spine, and they prescribed him with medicine for the pain. They also suggested that we take him in to see his regular vet fo a follow up. We did and the vet at AMC concured with the diagnosis. We took him home and after a few days of him not getting better and noticing that he had extreme thirst we took him back and pleaded for them to do blood work. The vet said that the thirst was caused by the medicine. They kept him under observation for a few days, and when we called to check the status the vet said he had Buddy's file open and his neck seemed to be doing just fine. His neck? It was obvious that they did not care about Buddy, and it took us to check his blood sugar on a home tester for humans. Buddy endured two weeks of absolute torture goign through diabetic shock and almost died because these people would not do their job. We trusted them, so I in part feel guilty as well. Buddy' s retinas ruptured because of this ordeal, and he is now blind. We since have not taken any of our animals back to this place. Buddy is currently doing better coping with his new disability and is getting daily shots of insulin.
