I called Synchrony Services to set up a substance abuse evaluation for my son on the recommendation of Juvenile Court, only to be told that although I have insurance that will cover the appointment 100%, I would need to pay $168 fee upfront, before the appointment. They would then submit the charge to my insurance company and reimburse me whatever was paid. I checked with my insurance and this is a participating provider and this is a covered benefit but if the provider chooses to require full payment in advance they have that option. Sorry, but I don't have $168 to 'loan' to Synchrony until my insurance payment is received. If I did, I wouldn't need the insurance in the first place!
