Hi, All of us, at some point, experience painful life challenges or relationship difficulties that test our ability to cope. I believe the most important relationship in life as adults is with ourself and that this relationship informs all others and is essential in developing intimacy and close, long term connections with others. Therapy is a process of increasing one’s self awareness which allows you to make choices of better coping methods, more satisfying relationships , and a more fulfilling life.I have 30 years experience as a psychotherapist : 22 years working in private practice in Bellevue and 8 years prior working in a psychiatric hospital with adolescents and families with severe depression and truama issues.
Services I really enjoy working with adults and believe that an interactive, straight forward approach to working together is the most helpful. I’ll provide direction as needed and be an active , not passive, participant in your work to grow and know yourself better. I use techniques like mindfulness, cognitive/behavioral therapy, family of origin work and left/right brain integration. I have extensive experience in helping people with anxiety, ADD and bipolar conditions. Helping parents with problems with their teenagers or adult children has been a particular interest. My practice is made up of fairly equal numbers of men and women and then some couples and families. With those who want to do deeper, long term work, we would focus on relationship to self and left/right brain integration. For those who want short term work on a specific problem there are a variety of approaches that work.
