A relationship with your therapist is as much a matter of "fit", and skills. It is right to find a therapist you feel good about. I'm sorry the person who felt dissatisfied with Steve, because we have had a completely different experience with Steve Hoy. He has made a huge difference in my son's life and he really likes Steve. He has a calm voice and presence, and my 16 year old son feels safe sharing things with Steve, as well as working on issues. I also meet with Steve for 15 minutes every couple of weeks to better understand what my son is thinking, stressed, anxious about or interested in. Steve is very helpful to me in helping me to better understand my son's issues, my contribution to his emotional state and what I can do to help my son. I couldn't have asked for a better therapist for my son, and we have worked with a number of therapists with moves to different states. A good therapist is worth shopping for. I heartily recommend Steve.

I would never visit him again. I was very disappointed. He barely ever answers any questions and seems to think anyone who comes in his office is not too bright. He doesn't treat his clients equally at all.
