My spouse and I saw Mr. Talbot for some issues we were having as a result of my spouse being dishonest and unfaithful. Mr. Talbot choose to cross an ethical line with self disclosure and volunteered to my spouse the he personally had a marital affair and was ex - communicated from his church. This self disclosure was counter - productive and ultimately validated to my spouse that promiscuous, unfaithful lifestyle is not as serious as I had made it out to be. I left this session feeling that he had projected his own transgression into our situation and lacked empathy for my struggles to cope and overcome the betrayal. He seemed to take a lot of the time in his expensive sessions making small talk and avoided the therapy. Then, he tried convincing us to go to California for these expensive brain scans that really don't provide anything useful in therapy anyway.

This therapist is used to working with guys that have more deep seated issues involved with an "illness" and possibly manipulation that users might do during the course of trying to get better, but still wanting drugs. As such, the more normal couples issues leaves this guy wanting to disect in the first session and "get at the problem", often making his own judgements before it is time. As a result, process, the process, the real therapy never took place. It left me as a guy feeling robbed of any sense of accuracy involving the more delicate issues. What needs to be recognized her to, is that my wife came seeking to support my healing after the majority of difficulties had been over. So, the way in which he allied himself with an issue that involved no clear explanation because of the way it had evolved 'over time' to have clear explanation and in a controlling manner to split off the couple into individual account giving, for a supposed next session, also speaks to how manipulative and controling he himself was and the level of sensitify with which he lacked. Hack job- first rate, from... possbily some sympathy for him because of the types of individuals he perhaps has to normally deal with. Run!
