Misrepresented their UPMC credentialing. Billed patient as self pay then turned patient over to collection agency. Bad business practices

This place was recommended by my surgeon as a place specializing in the recovery therapy I needed after my procedure. Overall we achieved the goals of recovery to a certain point. What I noticed and wished was better is the following:
-The staff is overly cautious with what can be done by individuals and this maybe a good thing, but is not reaching the individual abilities of people to help them recover faster and reach their goals.
- People need a customized program and don't need to be told what could be the worst outcome they can achieve. The medical industry does this very well already. Focusing on what can be done well, realistically is what patients want to hear and do.
- Treat patients as equals, not somebody who just learned to walk. A lot of the people who need therapy are very active individuals who got injured and may know a lot about their body and their limits.
- If a patient provides some feedback then the therapist needs to take it seriously. For example I signaled that a certain exercise gave me pain due to previous surgery and this was not accepted well and as I treated like I did not know what I was talking about. The same exercise could have been changed or modified or skipped.
- As a patient I expected an advice on how long my therapy should be. The response I got was that this depended on me. And therefore I took the rest of the recovery in my hands.
Overall I do no not see this as a better place than other places I had to go to in the past. My overall comment is that if the staff is more flexible and adaptable this could be a very good place.
