This was my vet for 10 years and I'm sorry now to have to write a negative review. My dog died last month from an intestinal blockage that was misdiagnosed as pancreatitis not once but during 3 separate visits at Chanticleer. He didn't need to die. The 24 hour emergency hospital he was transferred to and died at 12 hours later says so. Not only was he misdiagnosed for 5 days while his intestines rotted, but tests were not ordered or were botched that could have saved him. After 5 days of misdiagnosing him Chanticleer finally diagnosed the toy blocking his intestine and removed the blockage without removing enough rotted intestine. 12 hours after that surgery the emergency hospital Chanticleer transferred him to in the middle of the night wanted to redo the surgery because they believed rotted intestine was left in him and was killing him. They said at that point even with surgery he had less than a 30% chance of surviving so we didn't put him through it. If Chanticleer had properly diagnosed and performed surgery to remove the toy 5 days earlier this was a survivable medical emergency. He vomited bits and pieces of intestine for 5 days, unable to eat or drink, while Chanticleer stuck with the wrong diagnosis (and told us to take him home and deny him food and water for 48 hours) and took an insufficient blood sample that was rejected by the lab. That blood sample would have told them they were going down the wrong path but only if they had taken a big enough sample to be tested. How is that anything but gross incompetence? For mis-diagnosing and mis-treating my dog resulting in his death Dr. Clay wants full payment of over $5000, taking no responsibility for one screw-up after another that killed a dog, who wasn't old. I take no pleasure in writing this review. I loved the Chanticleer family and trusted 5 dogs to their care. Dr. Clay has forced me to do this. I will miss Jennifer Condreay, DMV and I hope some day she opens her own office.
