EDUCATION
~~ Girl Talk ~~
Girls 9-11 years old and their mom, grandmother, aunt, foster mom or female guardian. “Girl Talk” is a place for moms and their daughters to come together and chat about stuff like menstruation, dating, how to be safe and have questions about sexuality answered. Moms and their daughters get to choose when to meet...who will be there and what they discuss! Everyone learns and it’s fun too!!

Life Skills...how to handle peer pressure...relationships...defining your values

Program Objectives
• To debunk fears and myths about menstruation and puberty
• To share positive feelings about puberty, menstruation and gender
• To encourage healthy body image
• To discuss peer pressure and media influences
• To discuss safety issues, changing relationships and setting healthy limits
• To facilitate discussion of family and cultural values
• To develop decision making skills
• To dispel the myth that talking about sex and sexuality leads to early sexual activity among adolescents

~~ Healthy Relationships ~~
For adults and grades 9-12. This is an overview of the qualities of healthy and unhealthy personal relationships; healthy sexual relationships; what to think about before becoming sexually active, including age of consent issues.
~~ Blood borne Pathogens ~~
For adults. This is a basic overview of HIV and Hepatitis B & C for adults with no or little medical background, including definition of blood borne pathogens, transmission, and reducing your risk.
~~ Birth Control Methods ~~
For adults and grades 7-12. Sex…nobody wants to talk about it, but everybody is thinking about it! This presentation covers why learn about birth control, encourages students to talk to their family or a trusted adult about values and beliefs regarding sexuality, US pregnancy statistics, menstrual cycle review, birth control methods, including abstinence, effectiveness of those methods, and ways to respond to sexual pressure. Questions are encouraged, with an emphasis on dispelling myths and misconceptions about sexuality and birth control.
~~ Sexually Transmitted Diseases & HIV ~~
For adults and grades 7-12. This is an overview of common sexually transmitted diseases/infections, including HIV. Prevention and safer sex practices, including abstinence, symptoms, and transmission are discussed. Questions are encouraged, with an emphasis on dispelling myths and misconceptions about sexually transmitted diseases/infections, including HIV.
