Why I will never use Crossings Animal Hospital again:
I have two dogs, who, as many of you can sympathize with, are like my children. One has extreme allergies – so bad that my vet dermatologist said to me that he rarely sees cases like my puppy Leia has.
About a year ago, I relocated to Knoxville from Phoenix. Crossings animal hospital was the closest to me. Even though they advised me that they did not have a lot of experience with vet dermatology (both times that I requested orders they advised me I needed to call the allergen company myself), they ended up ordering the the serum for me, even though I had to coach them through it both times.
The last time I was there, I requested another order. It normally takes 2 weeks to fill. So 4 weeks before I ran out of medication, I requested that the order be filled. I hadn’t heard from anyone (after 3 weeks), so I stopped in to see what the status was. The admin told me that she would look into this and call me back. She did. She informed me that it was not ordered because I would have to do a separate panel for Knoxville allergens, and they would not order until I paid the $400 or so to do this. She also advised me that I had already been informed of the need for the additional allergy test, and she could not order anything until this was done. I let her know that I was, at this point, out of the serum, and that I would be happy to do the test next go around. I also requested that a Vet from Crossings call me back.
A few hours later, I received a call from the Admin (no Vet) and she advised that she will not order the serum for me until Crossings perform a local allergy panel. She also advised me that this was previously discussed with me, per the notes in the file. This was NEVER discussed with me –In FACT, I originally asked the question regarding the local allergy test for Leia. They advised me that they would look into it, as this was not their specialty, they would have to research. This is the LAST I heard of this, until they refused to order the serum.
My frustration with Crossings Animal Hospital is around two issues.
1) I was never made aware that they would not order the serum without a local panel. When I ordered the Serum, no call was made to me stating that they would not order the Serum for me. I found this out 4 weeks after the initial order, when I stopped in to check the status of the order.
2) Notes in the account stated that they would not order the serum unless a local panel was done, and that this was NOT discussed with me. This conversation never took place. While allergy serum is elective and not serious circumstance, I have very deep concerns about what would happen with a more serious condition.
Because of this, I DO NOT trust Crossings, I do not feel they have my pets best interest in mind, I will not longer trust them with my Pets health. I still have not heard from a VET at Crossings.
