This place is nothing like I imagined it to be. While the director is nice and helpful- not everyone else is. The therapy provided to you or your child is entirely based on the amount of money you pay or your insurance. I went there for almost 1 year- and I was only given a total of maybe 20 minutes with the OT. She never sat down and explained anything to me, it took months before I was even given a sensory diet for my child, and it took days for a phone call to ever be returned. If you have state medical- look else where- they will NOT provide you the same services that they do to other people who walk in the door. Your child will have an hour long session- usually only 45 mins- then they will speak with you briefly in the hallway or front area- for a couple seconds. When asked for suggestions about sensory behavior- I was REPEATEDLY told- "I will get back to you on this". NOTHING ever happened. I know that state insurance doesn't pay that well- if I could afford the 1000$ a month charge for my employers medical to include my children and I- I would.
According to the SPD foundation website- when picking an OT you look for one that makes parents/caregivers an integral part of the therapy program- in my case a simple meeting occasionally would have been nice, even a print out would have been helpful. When I finally did receive the sensory diet 6 months later- it was cut and paste, generic, and clearly my child's name was just added to an already made form.
Now, the woman at the front desk. I am not even sure where to start there- it is sad that she has the attitude that she does when it comes to children. If you do not like children, or sensory children/special needs children- you are clearly in the wrong business.
I finally found another place for my child to attend- I only hope that other parents do not end up feeling that this is their only option for occupational therapy. Your child DESERVES the best help possible!!! You WILL NOT find it here.

This is a terrific place for kids and their parents! The environment is child-centered and friendly, and the therapists really know how to manage all kinds of children with both sensory processing concerns and adoption-related issues. Occupational Therapy is a key piece for children - and their parents - who want help with sensory or behavioral needs!
