Not a good place for rabbits!!!! When we drove up to this office we were shocked because it looked like the vet office was the size of a closet. The vet did absolutely nothing at all for my rabbit and had very very little knowledge of rabbits whatsoever, and a lot of misinformation. The vet office also had me dosing my rabbit's metacam for a dog. 3 pounds on a dog syringe (0.5 suspension)once a day and I was told that more would kill my rabbit. I asked if it should be three times as much as the 1.5 suspension (it actually is) and I was told no that is what you would think but it actually does not work like that w 0.5. (This is a vet office so I can not imagine them dosing medications wrong and not knowing jack shit about rabbit medications when they see rabbits.)
Then I called back after the whole bottle of metacam was gone and I had gone to go to another vet for the same issue. I told them that the next vet said that the dosing was wrong. The rabbit was getting a mere drop of what she actually needed. I was then at this point told that they dose rabbits there for dogs. That Barbara Hess was not convinced that my rabbit was actually in pain so she was dosing on the low side. And that at their office they dose rabbits for dogs and it is in their manual. (I am going to consult a lawyer over all of this. I have all of the phone conversations recorded.) I called many times letting them know my rabbit is still in pain, are you sure we are dosing three pounds on a dog syringe because to my knowledge you do not use that syringe for rabbits. I was assured that with 0.5 metacam you do. Then later on they tell me they dose rabbits there for dogs. In the first place Barbara Hess told me she won't give me a script for 1.5 suspension because it is for rabbits 10 pounds and up. I read her a bottle from the last vet we had gone to and she changed her story to it being for rabbits of certain age. She only would allow me to get 0.5 suspension. Aside from all of this she had very very very very little knowledge of rabbits. And she could not even see the red in my rabbit's eye which other vets saw before and after her visit. I am really not sure what is wrong with that vet office. They owe me the money for the bottle of metacam that I bought. I believe it is $45.00. I paid them for a visit so they do not have a right to give me misinformation on a medication I had them prescribe for my rabbit so that the whole bottle is wasted. And they also did nothing at all whatsoever to help my rabbit in any way. My rabbit had several issues. I also asked about an eye flush and she tells me that the sedation is dangerous for her. And I have to tell her that my rabbit has had an eye flush before, they do not always need to be sedated and my rabbit does not, you can see this by her demeanor. She had an eye flush non sedated before. If you are a vet how are you that stupid and that much of a clown? Over other issues I asked about the vet just gave a blank stare and said a lot of things showing she has no knowledge of rabbits. I am just trying to cut this short. I would not recommend anyone bring their rabbit there. I also cannot imagine a vet office dosing a rabbit with the dosing for a dog with metacam. Please note I recorded the phone conversations so I have proof of all of this. I do not know what is wrong w Barbara Hess or that office. I would not blame the rest of the office itself if it was Barbara Hess telling them to give me all of this misinformation every time I called. I called many times because the 3 pounds on a dog syringe was not what I thought would be right for a rabbit and I was told OH MY GOD YOU OVERDOSED THE RABBIT JUST DON'T DO IT AGAIN and she will be fine! (Because I had gotten the correct dose and given that first, from online and other rabbit owners but I called to make sure because on the bottle Barbara Hess had put 3 pounds on the pound syringe.) In reality my dose was the correct dose. 0.5 suspension is three times as much as the 1.5 suspension. But after calling I listened to the office and was giving 3 pounds once a day.
