I have never received such poor treatment by any pharmacy in my life. I am 47, so that is saying a lot.
I am disabled and have osteoarthritis and fybromyalgia. These conditions require me to take pain medication, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills and anxiety medications. When I go to pick up my medications, they treat me like a drug addict (my meds are controlled substances), they ask for my D.Liscence and my phone number, birthdate and social security number, all which I have to announce in front of the enormous line which is always there, as they are understaffed. This is my personal info and they should have it in thier computer and just be satisfied with my driver's liscence. I am glad they do take their precautions, but it seems to be only in thier own interest as they way they treat me is uncontionable.
I got my monthly medications filled , and was amazed to see that the price had gone way, way up and the girl at the counter said " I can't tell you why the price varies from month to month, you just never know what they are going to charge."
With that information, I was uneasy at best, as my meds are supposed to be covered by my insurance. Medicare said, " you should never have to pay more than $6.50 for any med you ever fill, as you have this kind of coverage, when I walked out with my receipt, the amount was over $50.00!" I asked the tech to call medicare for me and find out why I am getting conflicting info and she refused!
Then to make matters worse, I get home, open the pharmacy bag and look at my bottle and although the quantity was '60', I only had 30 pills in my bottle! I called the manager, Mr. Patel, an Indian man who barely spoke english and was rude, and when I asked him to please take my name and number down so that when I came back (major inconvenience), he said" Ma'am, I cannot come to your house or leave the store!" I replied, I never asked you to do that". I simply want you to handle this so when I come back in person, the pharmcy will know that I have spoken with you". He raised his voice and said, reluctantly, ok, give me your number! I did so, and asked him to confirm the number and he had it wrong, which made me feel as if he never even wrote it down! He then rushed me off the phone , said he would call me back and he never did! I called again and spoke to Yolanda, the store manager, she was speaking in ebonics and sounded very agitated that I was bothering her.
I had to pay a taxi $twenty dollars to go back to the CVS (all the money I had left for the month) and when I went up to the counter, the pharmacist , Richard A. Kufuor, wouldn't make eye contact, in fact he didn't speak to me at all. He was rude, filled my bottle with the right amount of meds, and said, "would you like to count it? He was very sarcastic! I asked him is there was a form so I could fill out a complaint and he said "No."
I told him I was shocked to be treated in such a way as I have been a loyal customer for many years with CVS and I spend a lot of money there every month. I said " I can't believe you aren't even going to apologise for this problem".
I left, went to the other CVS on Abrams and Collins, and it was like night and day. The staff there were very courteous, I spoke with a manager named Steven who was very professional and immediately gave me the number for the district manager, whom I will call on Monday. I feel I should be reimbursed for my cab fair and that a formal complaint against the pharmacist and manager of that store should be made. A pharmacist holds people's life in thier hands...if they give the wrong med to someone, they could die. Cheating someone out of 30 pills should be addressed, where did the pillls go? Did he take them home? I wonder. He seemed very professional in his white coat, but I overheard him chatting on the phone to one of his " homies" as he too was speaking ebonics and where all the customers could hear and this made me feel very uncomfortable as he handles my meds and I take the medical profession seriously, his behaviour was laxidaisy and unprofessional at best. He then went to lunch leaving ONE girl to wait on ALL the customers (around 20) and many people walked out. I just don't understand how insignificant they made me feel and how they minimized the situation.
