Please please think twice before setting foot in this animal clinic.
I have no time to complain about bad service, but the way I was treated by the staff at this hospital was so inexcusable, I have to take the time out of my day to let people know. I have a new puppy, and got his shots at Belcrest because it's close to my home. I asked for an estimate on neutering, the estimate came in the mail at $385, which I thought was a lot for a 5 pound Chihuahua. I called Belcrest for clarification and the receptionist told me to go somewhere else if I didn't like the price. I explained that I think they had something wrong...she told me that was the price for a 40 pound animal... I proceeded to correct her by telling her my dog was not going to get more than 5 pounds.

It's not what you say to people, it's how you say it. The staff there treated me like I was a piece of crap. I absolutely hate complaining and totally uncomfortable with doing this, however, there was no excuse for these people making me feel the way they did. There was far more I could go into about the other staff but please just spend your money where your are treated with respect, Belcrest is NOT that place.

There is no doubt in my mind that if not for Dr. Hancock, my senior pug would not be with me right now. Six days ago, my dog started vomiting intermittently. I made an appointment for Tuesday afternoon, but Monday he vomited up very dark fluid, so I knew I had to take him somewhere immediately. Called Belcrest again and they made time for me within 2 hours of my call. Good thing! Though at first I was disappointed to pay over $300 for the xrays and other tests to determine my little one's problem, it soon became apparent how necessary it was. Monty had a VERY enlarged spleen, his intestines weren't moving, he had bleeding in his GI tract, he was severely dehydrated, and his red blood cell and platelet count were abysmal... Dr. Hancock took pains to explain to me, without dumbing it down, what was happening, showed me the xrays, and described the risk Monty was under... Surgery would be extremely risky, considering he had almost no platelets to clot with, and a host of other complications, and I was sure my pug was about to die... I decided to let him stay overnight so they could try to stabilize him, and long story short, even though the odds were heavily against him, Dr. Hancock successfully removed Monty's spleen, along with the enormous tumor growing on it. His impressive amount of knowledge and experience, and not least of all, his compassion (and of the staff), directly saved my dog's life. He stayed late with him the nights preceding and following the surgery, and called me often whenever Monty's status changed. THEY REALLY, REALLY CARE. Monty is recovering miraculously now, and actually feels TOO good, so I have to crate him indefinitely to keep him from running around like he wants to, so he can convalesce. How they overcame these obstacles, I cannot say, but I am so glad they did! My heart would break to lose my friend in such an abrubt and shocking manner. Thank you Dr. Hancock... you saved us! I'm not sure how much of the miracle can be attributed to Monty, whose entire blood supply had to be replaced, and how much belongs to Doc and his amazing staff, but it seems a miracle to me nonetheless. Five stars, I will never go anywhere else because you saved my best friend's life.
