I had 2 puppies seen by Dr. Amanda Pope on 11/2/2023. I bought the 2 bernadoodles that were from 2 different litters from Ivan & Barbara Gingerich, one a mini bernadoodle and one standard bernadoodle. Both puppies had a SEVERE case of giardia and the mini one was VERY VERY ill! Shame on the breeders Ivan and Barbara Gingerich and shame on veterinarian Dr. Pope to not note and treat the giardia! And for Dr. Pope to report a negative fecal floatation test on BOTH puppies who had ADVANCED disease of giardia. Do NOT use this vet or the breeder Gingerich / Greenfield Puppies. I recieved both puppies having loose stool about every 30 minutes to an hour (very small amounts because they were dehydrated) and it took me about 2 1/2 weeks to treat the giardia and nurse them back to health. The "health" report by Pope, MD for both the puppies documents inaccurately "Ideal" body condition, they were both underweight; and "negative for diarrhea and vomiting". Both had diahrrea incessantly and one was vomiting intermintently. There is NO WAY both of these puppies at 10 weeks old got as sick as they were over night. Giardia has a 3 week incubation period and the stool has a distinct color and smell. Both puppies were documented to have low grade fevers; Normal respiratory rate for a puppy or small dog is 80s-130 and the MINI bernadoodle's heart rate was 198 and the standard bernadoodle's heart rate was 150! Additionally, according to the Emergency Vet USA website puppies at "rest can have a breathing rate up to 40 breaths per minute or 50 breaths per minute if was just playing". Both my puppies had respiratory rate of 72 & 78! They were very dehydrated, lethargic and the mini had no desire to eat or drink so I had to feed him water and food out of my hand for several days. With all of the vital signs elevated: temp, heart rate and respiratory rate the vet should have known BOTH puppies were sick. To miss one I would be more forgiving but to miss TWO? Especially the little one who could have died she either had a really bad day or is really incompetant. All vital signs are now WELL within normal limits after 3 weeks of intensive care.
