I am from Billings, Montana, and have used this vet along with a couple friends for our hunting dogs. I have nothing but Great things to say about his work, his willingness to work on our dogs at any time of the day or night, and the great job he has done for us over the 25 or so years we have been hunting the area. He is very aware of the problems hunters have and is sympathetic to our need for help when it arises. I HIGHLY recommend this clinic and will use him again next year if the need arises.

I feel like my appointment was absolutely pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. No, actually, I felt better when I left, because Lightning wasn't in there anymore!

I had to wait when I brought my dying cat in because the vet was more interested in moving tractors at the fairgrounds (when he could've at LEAST come in for a minute to look at her). They were even letting her freak out and run around the cage in circles/ woudn't do ANYTHING for her when asked. So we rushed her to Homestead in Spencer, IA . She still ended up dying four hours later from internal bleeding and a broken jaw, but at least she was taken care of in Spencer and they took away some of her pain.
We think that part of her dying has to do with her not being seen right away and the fact that they were neglecting her, not even watching her, and letting her (as I said) run around in circles, banging her (already damaged) head against the cage for at least 20 min when she was already traumatized! We know that this happened, only because WE looked in on her to see how she was doing (we didn't leave her until half an hour later and ONLY to look into a different clinic so this was going on for quite a while). We proceeded to tell the lady that was at the front desk, what was happening, who did NOTHING.
In fact, everything I told the lady at the front desk seemed to go in one ear and out the other. I didn't feel like they cared about what I had to say at all or my animal.
Also, the examining rooms at their office were absolutely disgusting! They set my cat down on dog feces! All of the other animals there were freaking out too (who they obviously didn't care about as well), scaring her to death.
It was NOT like that in Spencer (homestead family practice), where they talked to us, told us what was happening (the truth), let us make decisions based off of that, and actually cared about our cat.

My reccomendation would be: do not take your pet to Emmetsburg's vet clinic. The ONLY reason we did was because it was the only clinic in town and Spencer is half an hour away. We thought her chances would've been better if she came here. Apparently not.
I'm sure Lightning would've died a painful, lonely, death and would have never even been seen, had we left her there.
