Great Club, Nice staff, friendly members, Plenty of equipment with exercise classes run by friendly ,knowledgeable instructors who go out of their way to know your name and insure your safety. The pool is clean and heated. the Spas are always working and well maintained. the locker rooms are shabby and ill kept but the showers and toilet are clean and working.. the grounds are beautiful and the driving range is there for a nominal fee or free depending upon the membership type. the tennis courts are top notch and lit. All in all a good value.

Avoid this dump. It needs more than a fresh coat of paint and some bleach. I wouldn't use the pool either, the water is a yellow-greenish color and it is quite possible to get a staph infection. I don't understand why people pay to have their weddings there, but they do. I can voucher that the club is poorly managed and the owner is something of a glorified SMUCK!!! He's a piece of work that should be locked up for wasting our city's resources and destroying our protected riparian habitats. For example, he has bulldozed 100+ year old mesquite trees and removed the natural vegetation from the Houghton Road Corridor, dumped waste into the Tanque Verde Creek and has stagnant ponds that breed mesquitos, which spread diseases like West Nile. I would worry too if my child was attending the nearby school (TAG). The stables at La Mariposa are also a major health hazard for those concerned with asthma and other airborne ailments,. The horses kick up clouds of dust in the turnouts and the winds carry this eastward towards the schools and neighborhoods across the wash. If you want to support a business, who's owner harasses, deceives and terrorizes patron and others he disagrees with, who slanders businesses, and the local/federal government, then sign up for a membership. Please note, this owner also abuses his military veteran status to browbeat those who stand in his way and he believes the governing laws do not apply to him. This behavior is childish and insulting to anyone who has served this country. My grandfather, a Decorated PN1 WWII Navy Veteran (a Tin Can Salior), has never used his rank to get out of speeding ticket, yet the OWNER of La Mariposa would.
