They didn't seem to have any interest in making my family feel as though we were welcome during a difficult transition - it was more like we were "temporary guests who wouldn't be back", which is true due to nature of hospice but certainly should never be the vibe we are given. I'm just another client to them. They don't have that great of a professional reputation in my community - it's a place to warehouse dying people who aren't likely to get visitors is more like it. They definitely aren't known for being experts. I was disappointed that their staff didn't seem to respect themselves as medical providers/professionals very much - like bottom of the barrell and they were fine with accepting that in the job they had. Family was treated with neutral attitude, or annoyance if interrupting their conversation or, forbid, ask what plans the doctor might have. I'm absolutely positive that I would have gotten better service anywhere else, and suspect this is the easy place case managers at acute hospitals use to clear their beds with a minimum of effort. The first time I walked into their facility, I immediately smelled an unpleasant odor - smelling hospital clean or just plain Pine-Sol would be better. I don't think they've ever cleaned the place.
