Clem hair braiding does a great job. She has been braiding my hair for 25 years.

When I do braids, or natural styles I only order hair from NY or LA as the grade is much better. The hair alone usually starts at $200. I had been to Clem’s African Hair Briaiding on and off over the past 10 years with no loss of edges, burns etc. so I took the hair to this salon to get it braided in. The hair is a very nice grade (soft wavy) that is beautiful if you wet everyday in the shower and go. Obviously I am no rookie at this braiding game. The experience prior to this one with an alternative braider, the person did the “knots” technique at the point where they stop braiding and leave the hair loose on the ends. After a couple of weeks of wetting the exposed hair, all the braids had started to unravel and fall out. So with this time, i made sure they used glue on each braid where they stopped braiding. I explained this during the consultation to the shop the day before to arrange my time to come in and make sure they knew what i was looking for. They agreed and i was there exactly at 9am the next morning. No one showed up until close to 10am. The girl started me for a couple of hours however due to the metered parking on Broadway, i needed to take a few moments break to feed the meter. By the time i returned moments later, the braider had started on the next girl who had just come in. After about a 1/2 hour of waiting i asked her when she was going to start on my hair again. She mentioned that it would be another 30-45 minutes. After that time expired, i asked again at which point she stated another 45 minutes to finish her up. I told her this was unacceptable. I am very familiar with braid shops; i didn't want anyone practicing on my head. The hair was too expensive to just have someone practicing! She offered to have this other girl do some of the middle and the back and she would return to finish all around the perimeter. I let the girl do a few braids but checked the work and disapproved ultimately requesting that the original girl finish my head. Then she offered another girl to try a few braids. After that didn't work, i asked to speak to the owner. She called her on the phone for which she was apologetic however offered no alternatives, solutions or compensation as it was now 2pm and i was not even 1/2 way done. I ended up being there from 9am -11pm. The girl who had come in after me was already in and out. So now fast-forward 4 weeks later; all of the braids in the back and in the middle of my head have fallen out. The remaining braids in the center have afro's on each braid where my hair is. I am terribly dissatisfies with this shop and will not even return to get them to repair this mess!!!!
