so far, I am very disappointed and un-impressed. My mother is there for nursing care. We have walked in and found a dirty diaper beside her pillow on the bed. She cannot feed herself, yet was taken to the dining hall and put in front of a plate with scrambled eggs and what looked like day old oatmeal. She is legally blind, also. We found her with scrambled egg under her fingernails as if she had tried to feed herself. Also, her bed table is often pushed to the wall where it is in-accesable to her. She should be able to get a drink or a snack whenever she wants. Putting her on waiting lists at other facilities today!

Upside:

Caring, kind, compassionate nurses and CNA's who are terribly overworked. Many worked 16 hour shifts which left me to wonder how sharp their minds could be after passing out meds that many hours. Overall the staff was very kind and helpful. Physical Therapy staff was the best....great to work with considering they had barely adequate room and equipment. I felt the Social worker was often rude and did not have the patient's interest at heart.

Downside:

Outdated facility, Not as clean as it should be. The first night I was there, I shared a bathroom with 3 women and the waste basket was full to overflowing w/ urine soaked diapers. My bathroom didn't get cleaned for 5 days in a row once. I understand that a new maintenance manager was hired and was making progress in cleanliness.

Showers smelled of mold and the straps on the seats actually had mold on them.

Food was marginal with no creativity and often no taste. One meal was a bologna sandwich on white bread. No one expects gourmet food at a rest home, but food was about a D+. Never had fresh fruit or veggies except once in a while a handful of lettuce in a dish.

If you are going for rehab, beware there is not a separate hall or area for rehab patients. The rooms across the hall and beside me had rest home patients screaming, crying, chanting, singing all the time. I would never go there for rehab again. Fighting to get well with rest home patients surrounding you was difficult and depressing. Couldn't sleep for the noise. It looked like there was a hall and one shower that could be made over for rehab exclusively, but it wasn't done. If this facility wants more rehab people, they need to step it up a whole lot.
