Dr Bouma, is a general surgeon and that is it. I had a parathyroid removed 3/22/12 felt great left the hospital went to dinner and then home watched a movie and bedtime. Friday morning, my arm is feeling tingley/numbness, pins and needles. 3 hr laters my whole body is feling the above symptoms. Went to ER and spent 6 hrs to be sent home still with symptoms and was told nothing they could find. one hour later I was not only feeling numbness,tingley, pins/needles i now feeling frustrated,depressed,doomed feeling,anxiety, blood pressure approx 150/104 fever 101 and now at ER again and when all said and done i was sent home being told i had parastesia, please look up if you need to know what this is. its been almost 2 weeks and im laying here still numb in my arms,hands,legs,feet,mouth,lips,eyes, and really cant feel my bottoms of my feet. Dr bouma has ran the Same goddam tests over and over and now says i dont know whats going on. When i suggest whats possibly it is im basically told im the DR you are not attitude. I was told that my scar was going to be about an inch and my scar is about 4 inches. Dr bouma is a GENERAL SURGEON MORE OR LESS PLEASE WHEN MAKING A CHOICE FOR A SURGEON MAKE SURE THEY ARE TRAINED AND VERY VERY IM MEAN VERY GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO. Dr. Bouma never should have done my surgery especially when he cannot help me post op and tell me he has no idea about whats going on with my symptoms. All the tests he runs will show normality and the tests that need to be addressed he wont do and now im here trying to figure out what to do. THANKS DR. BOUMA FOR MAKING MY DISCISSION EASIER, ONE LESS SURGEON IN SPOKANE THAT I CAN RULE OUT.

I saw Bouma regarding a Sports Hernia (it is muscle tears in the lower ab that do not show up on x-rays or ultrasound) and when he asked what I was in there for and explained the sports hernia symptoms he came across very disingenious saying I don't believe in them. It was apparent he thought this was phantom and that left me very frustrated. Fortunately I found an excellent Surgeon at U of W who had done many of these surgeries and although I cannot do many of the things I used to be able to do I can now live without the constant pain. Based off my experience Bouma is a surgeon I would not recommend.
