I had to use this Physician as an emergency measure, I didn't have an option as I went into the ER.. In recovery she snapped at me when answering my questions and kept insisting I felt better. After the surgery she told me my gallbladder was gangrene and then when discharging me didn't warn me when she yanked out my drainage tube. It was extremely painful and it would have been nice to have been warned. In her follow up visit, she burst into the room and yelled at me to lay down while she pulled out the bottom of the table, then she yelled at me to sit up, then to lay down again. Going over the pathology report she said my gallbladder was not gangrene after scaring the heck out of me. When I questioned the descrepancy she said it was the next thing. She told me at discharge I was NEVER to remove the butterfly stitches and then just glanced at them at the follow up visit told me to take them off myself. About a week later, they were inflammed and I saw string coming out of two of them but hell if I was going to call her. Her staff at her office all seem angry and annoyed. I understand they're busy, but they should really treat their clients better. I had to do my own research to get my questions answered. I don't have insurance so I called to set up some sort of payment plan and one of her staff said I would have to physically come down there to fill out the forms. I asked her if she could fax me the forms to save time because they were an hour behind schedule when I got there last time. She gave me a rude response saying, "Can you send a payment over the fax?" I said, "Yes, they are called debit cards". Well, they don't take credit cards! In the first place I didn't want to make a payment over the fax, I just wanted to fill out the paper work so I could cut the time being at their rude office. While sitting and waiting at my follow-up appointment I asked other patients what time their appointments were and evidently she double books for the same times. If I had a choice, I would never, ever go to this woman. She may be an excellent surgeon but she has zero bedside manner and neither does her staff. She is 63 and I think she hates her job and all of her patients. Instead of feeling assured and comforted, I felt angry and sick to my stomach. Carilion really needs to up their game and get more patient oriented physicians.
