I had a progressive darkening of the skin around my ankles , up to my calves even down around my toes. I had previously seen a cardiologist (2) , internist, neurologist. and family practitioner in the past 5 years, not concerning the dark spots but for other issues. However, I did ask these other professional what could be causing the black tinting of the skin one cardiologist asked if I washed my ankles - other doctors thought it was stasis.

Dr. Gerber looked and asked how long had I been taking Minocycline.for acne? He had never prescribed it to me, nor did I mention it. Bingo! That was it - 20 years. He indicated that I had one of the most advanced discoloring that he had seen - ever. While unsightly it is not a indicator of something else. Switching meds I noticed a dramatic muting in the darkness level of the discoloration. Not perfect but awesome to know that it is not stasis nor poor circulation.

I have $200 dollars in compression socks if someone is interested.

I would not recommend Dr. Howard Gerber to anyone paying in cash/without insurance. Dr. Gerber treated me Like I was less of a Person. he did not shake my hand or look me in the eye the entire time of my visit. (Which was very short) He seemed to be in a real rush and I bit upset. I do not have Health insurance do to my current employer. However I did pay the asking cash price. Overall it was poor service, and Dr. Gerber, MD proscribed me with expensive medication that seems to have ZERO affect on my psoriasis. I feel I could have gotten better care from another physician.
