I thought about Dr. Hackney today for the first time in many years. He delivered my son 47 years ago and I will never forget his remark in the delivery room. I had been in labor for over 24 hours...my little brother had died the day before, so I was physically and emotionally drained. I was bearing down and evidently was making too much noise because he said, "Oh, Alice...it can't hurt THAT much!" Holy cow. What an awful thing to say to a woman giving birth.
It broke my heart to read the review by the girl who went to him when she was 11. My prayers are for her comfort as she lives with the sadness he has caused her.

I went to this doctor for years and years as a child trying to get help with painful periods that started when I was 11. He never believed me, told me I was being theatrical and drug-seeking. He told me the pain would go away when I had a baby. He told this to an 11 year old! I would have went to another doctor but I was only 11 and had to do what my parents told me. Now as an adult I've finally been diagnosed with severe endometriosis and I am unable to have children. At the moment I'm recouperating from sugery to remove what adhesions they can. My inablitly to have children all stems back to this man, and I'm very upset with him that he never referred me out to an OBGYN or took any of my claims to heart. He was calloused and cold and did not care that for 3 days of each month I was not able to walk, eat, or go to the bathroom without pain. I've missed so much and he's partially to blame.
