Dr. Jeffrey Odel is a Professor of Ophthalmology at CUMC and specializes in the field of Neuro-Ophthalmology. Dr. Odel is active in both clinical and research arenas. His present research interest is in developing efficient clinical tools to distinguish vision loss and visual field loss of optic nerve origin from that of retinal origin. He works with Donald C. Hood, Ph. D., of the department of psychology, in a weekly conference where visual fields are correlated with multifocal electroretinography, multifocal visual evoked potentials and spectral domain optical coherence tomography. He will be addressing with Dr. Hood the most cost effective diagnostic pathway of the work-up of visual loss under different clinical scenarios.

I give Dr. Odel 5 stars. In an intelligently designed survey, that's what he would get. Unfortunately, the absurd, hyper-emotional top-rank definitions in this survey, which I could not check, leave my rating at 4-1/2 stars. My experience with Dr. Odel was excellent in all respects. Dr. Odel was highly recommended to me, and he lived up to his reputation in every way. He is meticulous, thorough, responsive, answered every question about an extremely specialized and technical subject in clear, informative, understandable language. With exams and tests, the appointment lasted almost three hours. Dr. Odel personally spent over an hour with me. His staff was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. The office appearance is that of an established, successful physician's practice -- warm, human, patient-friendly -- for me, preferable to the sleek, cold, mechanized look of "modern" medical offices. To be absolutely clear, I recommend Dr. Odel highly.
