I paid my copay for nothing. The service I went for -- refill of a routine maintenance drug that I have been on and off of for some time -- was not performed. I was told I required blood work before I could receive my refill. I have a terrible phobia of needles and do blood work only when absolutely necessary, and when I asked why this was needed, I received a vague and meaningless answer. I said I would go off of the drug before I would get blood work done, and Dr. Halper said fine, good-bye. Note that this is NOT a drug which is safe to stop taking abruptly. I am in very good health with no diseases or conditions to speak of and have confirmed with several medical contacts that blood work was in no way medically necessary for someone like me in order to safely continue taking this drug.
I was also given an EKG when starting this drug for the first time a couple of years ago, when I was in my mid-20s. My mother, a registered nurse, said this was also not medically necessary and wondered why it had been performed.
The doctors here, but especially the father (Nicholas) and eldest son (Brett) have no bedside manner, are brusque and will happily make fun of you/your medical condition if they wish, and, I believe, are lining their pockets by ordering and carrying out medically unnecessary procedures. I am reporting my experience to the New York State medical board, and advise anyone considering being a patient here to stay far, far away.

Absolutely! They aren't arrogant at all and are more than willing to pursue advice when necessary
