I went to this office expecting a simple consultation. I waited 45 minutes for my appointment. I was with Dr. Tankel for 5-10 minutes. He poked my face with a tool a few times and wrote me a prescription. My insurance (BCBS) billed me for out-of-pocket costs of $160. When I spoke with a very rude woman on the phone regarding the fact that the Dr. charged me for a "consultation" as well as a "surgery procedure" I was told that the Dr. had billed correctly. I reiterated the fact that I was not informed that this would be anything more than a consultation and that there was no "surgical procedure" done. The woman was adamant that the Dr. had charged correctly. I still cannot believe that he had me in his office for only 5-10 minutes and I was charged for a "surgical procedure". This is unacceptable and I asked to speak to the Dr. as I was hoping we would be able to come to an agreement since him and I both know he did not do any "surgery".

I am truly livid in the way my claim was handled and even though my insurance covered this doctor as an in-network Dr. they are making me use it towards my $150 deductible. Some people would claim this is the insurance but if the Dr. did not try to rip people off and pretend he did some sort of a "surgery" I would have been charged for a simple consultation - which is what it was. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone even if your insurance covers.

It was easy to get the appointment time that worked for my schedule. They answered most of my questions but I could have used more information. They've never dismissed any of my concerns as unimportant, and take every concern of mine very seriously. I've been places before where they were argumentative and angry, so I was nervous that I would encounter that here as well. Instead, they were very calm and understanding the entire time. I could tell they really care about everyone who visits them. They're always able to answer simple questions over the phone. They only make me schedule appointments if necessary.
