I was treated with lithium from 1-13 to 1-14…I have never been hospitalized or diagnosed with any mental illness. i have a tendency for excitability and what I call slight mania…… I asked Dr. Farkas to put me on something to take the edge off and possibly prevent these excitable upswings……
In hindsight, the first thing any ethical shrink would have done is asked for my PCP bloodwork to see if there was any underlying physical issues that mask self as mental.. DUH.. not this doctor… he prescribed lithium… after this i would never suggest this physician to anyone… he talks about himself most of the time and is the FIRST and ONLY physician i have known to ask for the co pay to be put in his hand EVERY TIME(you don't trust your staff?)… Plus, he went to school for psychiatry in ITALY..uhhhhh.. what American does that? maybe he had trouble getting in school here… Who knows?
He didn't monitor my blood( i get free lab work on my insurance) which caused a LOT of problems that really really could have been prevented if Dr. Farkas would have stopped talking about himself and paid attention to what LAB TESTS he should have requested….
I am NOTT a complainer and what i am dealing with physically could have been prevented if he would have stayed awake….
I do not trust him or his judgement… What ticks me off most is that i asked him of the dangers of lithium the first month as i had read a little on it… He said to me"the important thing is to monitor the blood and if you do,lithium is a great drug." uhhhhhhh ok so why wasn't he monitoring my blood where i had to reach the point of a TSH of 142/T4 of .9/and T3 uptake of 24/Free Thyroxine Index of .2………… OHHHH, Dr. Farkas was busy talking about himself instead of making sure he had ordered the correct lab work.. most of his labs were for just for lithium levels… duh… as i sit in bed NOW w a pounding headache and tired after 10 hours of sleep i know why shrinks are often looked down upon.. Farkas should have ordered a Baseline Panel to see my PRE lithium T's and if i had the thyroid antibodies existing .. NOW i have side effects like i have never had in my life.. NEVER… i have forgiven Dr. Farkas but DO NOT i mean NOTTTT recommend him at all….
He needs to retire and move on….. i don't normally write online reviews but this has been going on months now with the extreme fatigue and i am ticked off… I am on levothyroxine and hope the hypo will reverse self but is unlikely… ALLL could have been prevented with proper testing…
Shame on me for going to a U.S. born dr. who went to a country that is WELLL know for mental medicine(ITALY LOL)….. oh well… live and learn.. whatever you do, find another shrink.. ANY other shrink.. and make sure you get your bloodwork results and ask questions.
I will release this anger toward Farkas as it is NOT healthy and will get me nowhere.. I hope he learned from his inattention to detail… I'm not feeling well today Dr. Farkas.. but i'm sure you are fine… be well
