I went to this doctor for more than 14 years and within the last few years, something seems to have gone south with him. Not only has he lost long-term employees, but he also seems to have lost his touch.

His replacement of a crown was the most excruciating experience I have endured at the hands of a dentist and I have had tons of dental work done in my life.. He also hounded me about getting another crown replaced because he said it was cracking on all four sides.

I got a second opinion and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that crown, which Voltarel was going to charge $500 to replace ( my patient cost of share, not the total cost of the crown). The new doctor also discovered that a root canal that had been done on that tooth was never completed. The new doctor is going to complete the procedure for $200 without the need for a new crown.

So, in short, follow your gut and always get a second opinion for expensive procedures.

I have seen Dr. Voltarel's practice go from a pretty good experience to, basically, an assembly line. And, unfortunately, it looks as if most of his clients are in the geriatric category. I hope they are not being lied to as I was and taken to the cleaners, regardless if Medicaid pays or not. You can't put a price on the pain I went through for a simple crown replacement.
