I would avoid this dentist. He put a crown on 3 months ago that I am still having problems with, and it's possible I might need a root canal eventually. He doesn't seem to take seriously what he's there to do, always joking and carrying on - and he isn't funny. It's annoying. When I presented last Sept. telling him I thought I had bitten down on some popcorn and maybe cracked a tooth, his response was "I'm glad you did that. That's how I make my money, that's how I stay in business." What kind of a dentist says that, even jokingly?? Not professional at all. He wanted to put a crown on right away, that day, for $1200 (I'm a self-pay). I told him I wanted to get a second opinion, because of the cost, and two other Temple dentists told me they didn't think I needed one, that I should just keep an eye on it, monitor it, etc. I eventually let Dr. Cox put on the crown, because I was afraid of doing further damage to my tooth, however I'm sorry I did. The crown has never been the right shape, seems to fit over the tooth wrong, and has caused bite problems on that side since the beginning. His work was very slipshod, and he seated and removed the permanent crown numerous times trying to get the fit right. How much damage did that do to a tooth maybe already cracked? This crown has never felt right. I've had several other crowns done by another dentist, and his work was never a problem. Dr. Cox never sat me down and explained my options to me either, he was in a hurry to do the crown and make his money. In addition, I've had problems with the hygienist over there not giving me what I thought was a thorough cleaning. And I was told in November that they could not give me an appt. that day for 6 months out. (Want me to schedule like a year or two in advance.) I do not intend to continue going to this dentist, and I would not recommend him.

One thing I noticed about their office was how absolutely fantastic it smelled. They must clean or sanitize all the time. They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. They didn't pressure me to buy anything I didn't need, which I really appreciated. I've been to other places that pressured me to buy stuff and it always made me very uneasy. They went out of their way to make me feel special and respected, and were very sympathetic to my situation. I've never seen more kindness and empathy anywhere else. It was nice of them to offer some sample toothbrushes and toothpaste for me to take home. I was able to figure out which toothpaste I liked without having to buy anything. Dr Cox and Vivian were great with caring for my needs since I am especially nervous about procedures. I would recommend them to everyone. Amy at the front desk is always prepared to help with financial needs. She is great! I LOVE this office.
