Portage Dental Center is committed to excellent dental care at affordable pricing in order to accommodate every family’s dental needs.

In 1981 a local team of dentists was committed to offering excellent dental care at affordable pricing to all people in their surrounding community. These same dentists discovered that the Portage County community and surrounding areas were in great need of sound, affordable dental care. It was at this time Portage Dental Center was established. These founding dentists, Dr. Ronald Freshley and Dr. Kenneth Sladky situated their dental center in the heart of Ravenna allowing convenient access for all residents to obtain affordable dental care.

Since the 1981 opening, thousands of patients have received excellent dental care at family affordable prices. The Portage Dental Center now offers all dental services including orthodontics, Saturday appointments, same day emergency care, and accepts all major insurance companies.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had 2 horrible experiences there with my daughter and do not intend to go back with any of my children. The 1st visit we had to wait over an hour past the appt time to get taken back. When I voiced a complaint regarding this, the office manager give me a huge attitude. I then spoke to her boss and the issue was quickly resolved, we were provided a gift card and with a note for the head manager and I was pleased with them or so I thought.
A week later, my daughter returned to have a procedure done. The dentist was highly recommended and "great with kids." While that may have been the case, she was not great with the parents of the kids. I was told that I could stay in the room with my daughter (who had never had anything like this done before) as long as I sat in the corner and "kept my mouth shut." I happen to work with sick children and their parents and know that you do not talk to parents that way. I explained this to her and she said if I was uncomfortable, I was more than welcome to leave. I, against my better judgment let her continue because the only thing that mattered to me was that daughter be taken care. After the procedure was completed, it was suggested that she needed more work than they were comfortable doing there and upon checking out we would receive referrals for pediatric specialists. When I was given the sheet there were 4 dentists-3 of them are way out of our area and the 4th one is close but they only take patients to 5 years old. My daughter is 6. When I said this I was told, "Well, I guess you could just pull out the phone book and look yourself." I told them that we were leaving and not coming back. Thankfully my daughter was with me or it could have escalated much further. I have never been so angry, upset or disgusted with an healthcare facility before. It has been over a day since this experience and I am still just so disgusted. I can not believe we were treated this way and now to make matters worse, we have to start the process over again with finding a new dentist and put my daughter through all the steps again. Which in the end having her taken care of best is what is important. And the best is not Portage Dental Center and Dr. Sylvia Kramer.
