Services DENTAL PROPHYLAXIS
We recommend a dental cleaning every six months for most of our patients.

Each visit includes:

Detailed charting by our hygienists. They will record decayed, missing, and restored teeth.

Dental probing to determine the the pocket depths and, in turn, the health of the surrounding and supporting tissue around the teeth. The results are recorded on a periodontal chart.

Oral Facial Exam provides a comprehensive exam to screen for any abnormalities. This includes an oral cancer screening.

Scaling and Root Planing to remove agents, such as dental plaque and calculus (tartar), which can cause inflammation. The removal of these agents helps to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Polishing smooths the surface of the teeth, making it more difficult for plaque to accumulate.

Fluoride Treatments to help prevent cavities.

Oral Hygiene Instructions are given based on lifestyle and diet. All instructions are given to help patients maintain oral health.

RADIOGRAPHS
We recommend bite wing x-rays once a year and a panoramic film every five years. X-rays may reveal tooth decay, periodontal disease, and oral pathologies that may otherwise be overlooked during an exam. All radiographs are taken digitally.

An Intra-Oral Camera is used for diagnostic and explanatory purposes.

PERIODONTAL PROCEDURES
Deep Scaling and Root Planingto remove calculus deposits (also known as tartar), which are hardened calcified deposits, which can cause inflammation, bone loss, and possible tooth loss. The removal of these agents helps to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

TEETH WHITENING
We offer both in-office and at-home options. We will be glad to discuss the advantages/disadvantages of each system to help you decide which option is best for you.

"Take Home" Teeth Whitening

Pre-filled trays are available for purchase and are ready for use.

Custom trays are also available. Impressions must be taken for each arch in order to make custom trays. Whitening gel is provided with instructions for use.

"In Office" Teeth Whitening is provided upon request.

CROWNS
Gold or porcelain crowns are available. Listed below are some of the reasons Dr. Glasgow may recommend a dental crown. Depending on the reason for the crown, Dr. Glasgow will outline the procedure and time commitment involved in taking this course of action.

Dental crowns may be utilized to:

- Protect a weak or broken tooth

- Restore a severely worn or broken tooth

- Hold a dental bridge in place (abutment crown)

- Cover an implant

ROOT CANAL
A root canal is used to restore a tooth that has undergone significant decay or has become infected. During this procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. The procedure protects against the formation of abcesses.

ONLAY
An onlay, or a partial crown, is a type of filling which covers one or more cusps of a tooth. This type of precedure is recommended for a tooth which has decay too extensive to support a large filling, but is not damaged enough to need a crown.

Gold or porcelain onlays are available at our office

SIMPLE EXTRACTIONS
Dr. Glasgow will perform routine tooth extractions. Novocaine and nitrous gas are available in our office.

For more complex extractions, Dr. Glasgow recommends several oral surgeons.

DENTURES
There are two types of dentures: full and partial. A full denture is necessary when there are no remaining teeth and a partial denture is used when some teeth remain.

For both full and partial dentures, several appointments must be made; an impression must be taken, followed by a try in of a wax denture, adjustments, try in of the finished denture, followed by several appointments to adjust the denture. This process is in place to ensure a denture that fits correctly and comfortably.

RESTORATIONS
A filling is the restoration of lost tooth structure with either silver amalgam or tooth-colored resin material.

SEALANTS
Sealants are plastic coatings to cover the deep pits and grooves on the chewing surface of teeth to prevent cavities. They protect the chewing surfaces from collecting food particles and germs. Sealants are generally applied to the chewing surfaces on permanent molars.

My name is Colleen Painton and I have been Dr. Glasgow's dental patient for 8 years, during which time I have been treated for a root canal, dental filling replacements, crown work and bi-annual cleanings. I have always been 100% satisfied after my procedures and will continue to highly recommend her practice to anyone (my husband and our 7 year old son are also under her dental care). Dr. Glasgow has also improved my smile and I am forever grateful to her for her dedication to both dentistry and her patients. Many thanks to Dr. Glasgow and her staff; I highly recommend her practice!
