I'm on the fence about whether I'll return or find a new dentist. They're currently in transition after Dr. Plaisted retired. It's a whole new set of dentists now and I was kind of thrown together with the one who saw me. I don't think I want to stick with him. Very young, inexperienced, was rough & caused unnecessary pain when he held my mouth during the brief exam. I'm also not happy with the way they handled my refusal to get panoramic X-rays. They have you sign a form agreeing you'll be "dismissed" if you don't get them next time. I understand now why they wanted to take them. I have root canals & crowns. But the way it was handled was hard-hearted & condescending. It was mentioned by the hygienist at the last minute during prior exam that next time I'd have the X-rays done. When I was on my way out. They take it for granted that you're just going to go along with whatever they want to do to you and don't give you a chance to ask questions. A poor spirited and rather arrogant-seeming policy, but all too common in medical & dental professionals, IMO. Plus if I do change over to a new dentist somewhere else, they'll want me to have the X-rays done all over again. I found in the past that a new office isn't satisfied that the ones done at your previous dentist are good enough.
