I went to the Hattiesburg Oral Surgery in Mississippi to get my back bottom two wisdom teeth pulled. My oral surgeon was Dr. Bennett York. He was very mean and unethical. I wouldn't advise anyone to have him pull your wisdom teeth. After I had my wisdom teeth pulled my left bottom gum area was entirely numb. I had a very hard time opening my mouth to talk and eat. I went back to Hattiesburg to speak to him about my options and he kept saying it'll go away but it never did. So I kept going back and asked him to send me to a nerve specialist so I can get this problem corrected and he told me there was nothing they could do for me. Well, I then spoke to an oral surgeon specialist online and told him about my circumstance. This oral surgeon told me that this man is either unethical or stupid and that he should have sent me to a specialist after two months of me being numb in order for the specialist to attempt to reconnect the nerve. The specialist online also advised me that after eight months after the surgery, the chances of reconnecting the injured nerve and attaining a normal sensation is not great. I tried and kept asking Bennett York to send me to a specialist but he refused. When I found out it was too late to reconnect the nerves after eight months I have to live with this uncomfortable and terrible numbness for the rest of my life. The specialist online also told me that, when numbness occurs from the removal of lower teeth, it means that the mandibular nerve has been injured. I even asked Dr. Bennett York if he severed my nerve and him and his nurses didn't give me a direct answer. They just said, that my left wisdom tooth was very close to some nerves. I then told them, why didn't Bennett York let me know that after he looked at my x-rays. There was no way I could have known that my left bottom wisdom teeth was close to any nerve. He didn't tell me about that risk, so when I went into surgery I thought it would be a normal extraction but It wasn't.
Lawyers in the state of Mississippi rarely take these kind of cases so I warn you. I can't change my situation because I'm already numb but I hope my horrible experience can prevent someone from going through this terrible ordeal.
