Dr. Truckenbrod was my primary care provider for several years. I always thought she was thorough and pleasant, if a bit rushed and impersonal - until my last appointment with her. I visited her for my yearly physical, and she immediately brought up the subject of my body weight. She told me that I either had type 2 diabetes or was going to have it soon. Then she inaccurately explained how type 2 diabetes works in what I guess was an attempt to scare or shame me into losing weight. She also dismissed my other questions during the appointment, telling me that my body would feel better overall once I lost weight. After the bloodwork she ordered for me revealed that I was perfectly healthy, I realized that this doctor was prejudiced against fat people and unable to give me the quality of health care I deserve. I would never visit her again, and I advise other big bodied folks to avoid her as well. It's impossible to trust a doctor who can't see past their own biases.
