Wow!! Reading the above review, I almost thought I wrote it. My daughter was also referred to Shirley Pierce by the insurance company we had. My Mother took us, we arrived at 8:00 am a. My daughter had a broken tooth. They ended up pulling all four front teeth, they performed what they called "baby root canals" and capped all the rest but 3 teeth. They did not put her under, claiming they didn't like to do that because it was too dangerous. They let me go back with her as long as she behaved. Well, she was scared and started crying. She wouldn't calm down so they made me leave the room. Said i could come back in if she calmed down. They never came back for me. While working on her, she swallowed one of the dentist tools. They took us to the nearest hospital to make sure. Xray showed that she did. It passed a few days later. They did not give her any prescription for pain. Told me to give her tylenol and brush her teeth that evening. It was a nightmare!! She wouldn't eat or drink for about a week. Had to hold her down and feed her with a dropper. She was 4 years old at the time and is now 22. This was at her office in University City, Mo. (St. Louis area) I called the office a few days later and never recieved a bill. Wouldn't have paid it if I had!! Please don't take your children to her!! If anybody else has had an experience like this, please email me. I would like to hear from you. My daughter was referred to Dr. Shirley Pierce because she was "to put them under" and did not. This happened when she was about to begin kindergarten. She will be 20 this year. They pulled the four front teeth, and capped all but four others. They would not allow me to go back and see her. They had to keep giving her more medicince to numb up becuase they were working on several patients per day at the same time. We were there at 8am and left at 5pm. They gave her chocolate pudding to eat since she hadn't been able to eat or drink at all. She preceeded to throw it up with lots of blood all over the carpet. We walked out. I am not one to leave a mess, but by God, I did for that poor excuse of a dentist. My daughter also complained that she hated her teeth. She still had silver crowns on her teeth to the 7th grade. Kids would ask what was wrong with her teeth. I felt that just because we were on Medicaid that we were shuttled through like cattle.
