The entire staff is friendly and glad to see me each time I arrive. Dr. Steve is a prince among men. I go in every six months to get my teeth cleaned and checked. He would remember non-dental related conversational content we had at the last visit.
The first time I went in he looked at one of my front teeth that had a amalgam filling on the tongue side, and asked what I wanted to do about it. The tooth had been filled about 25 years before by another doctor. It was getting a little decay behind the filling which was showing darkish on the front side of the tooth. Two separate dentists in Cloquet had looked at the tooth and wanted to crown it ($$$). Anticipating that he also wanted to crown it I said, "why don't we crown it?" He said he didn't think it would be necessary since he could remove the metal filling and replace it with an acrylic. He replaced the amalgam filling with an acrylic, giving me once again a dazzling smile (dazzling smile is my attempt at levity).
That was probably 5 years ago. He could easily have crowned it at my expense, since the other two dentists had wanted to do it, and I'd never been the wiser. He did what was best for his patient, not for his pocket book. Like I mentioned earlier, he is a prince among men.
