. This doctor knows nothing about epidurals, and don't think you are going to get one. As a nurse, I knew I wanted an epidural when in labor. They work very well, if g in the correct dose and have few side effects. They are just more work for everyone, and you may deliver an hour later than without, but who cares? Dr. Bender is totally against them, but he won't tell you that. He will wait and think of some excuse not to order it, and he will leave you suffering. If he were to order it ,he's afraid to start them too early, and as he told me, "I stop them when you are at 7cm so you can push". What a lie, 7cm dialated is the most painful time, when it's needed most! Don't trust this doctor, he will lie and you will have a very painful delivery. The synthetic pain med. injection they offer you does nothing for the pain! Trust me, he delived my first child, and as a nurse there was NO reason for me not to have an epidural! Oh ya, he came in to deliver my baby all dressed up in the evening. There was no way he was calling in anesthsia for me, he had a party to get back to.
