I ll describe why you could do well to consider a visit with someone like Dr. Mark Amster. I ve been a patient of his for some time.

No doctor, sadly, whether primary care or specialist, ever even hinted that as a middle-aged guy it might be smart for me to seek a dermatologist, for perhaps preventive purposes alone, never mind treatment. I decided on my own, especially also being fair-skinned. When I told my primary care doctor I was going to schedule a dermatology appointment, he asked if I wanted to have him first check me out, to look at my head and face. I said sure . He looked me over and said he saw nothing of concern.

Shortly after I had my first appointment with Dr. Amster. While looking closely at my forehead, then face, he said: I see something I don t like . This was at the base of my nose. He said it should be biopsied as it could be cancerous, perhaps basil cell but let s wait and see what the results tell . The biopsy proved him right. Soon after I was in the dermatology surgeon s chair. It took a nine hour day for the extraction of the tumor, sewing up the large wound, bandaging. I was told later that had I waited much longer, my nose would have had to come off and be replaced with a proboscis.

This is why we have specialists like Dr. Amster. (And it is also why taking control of our own health is sometimes essential).

I am always so impressed with how quickly my calls are answered here. I am never put on hold for a long time and love knowing that if I have a quick question I won't have to wait a half hour through terrible music to get it answered. It was nice to see Dr. Amster treat his staff with so much respect. It was obvious that he had a good relationship with all of his staff members. They were so easy to reach in an emergency, they answered my call immediately. It is a relief to know that I can count on them to always be there for me when I need them the most. Dr. Amster is great and always answers all of my questions. The practice has 7:00 A.M. appointments which is great for busy people.
