DR. Charous, in November of 2008, scoped my larynx, as I was experiencing Dysphagia at was being fed on a stomach tube (pect tube). He was exceedingly gentle and seemingly thorough. He sat quietly, gazing at the video of the scoping process and for what seemed like a long time. My son finally said, "will he ever eat" and Dr. Charous remained quite silent still gazing at his video screen. He turned and said: "it doesn't work". I knew that meant 'at all'. I was frightened about this situation and I was exceedingly weak about 120 pounds. As we sat there in silence Dr Charous turned and said I have an idea that just might work it's called vital stim and they perform this at Lutheran General. He explained the system and we left with hope for the first time since the surgically induced onset in September of 2008. Due to the speech therapist at the Abington nursing home I began the process and then was followed up at Lutheran where Susan Bertucci was a therapist. Dr. Charous came over to one of the sessions to observe. Dr. Charous is a luminary. He is and was open and an investigator which is what good physicians do. I am exceedingly grateful to him and I apologize for not paying my final bill of $62.00. I will. Finally in 2010, still recuperating, i received increased disability benefits from the va. SO I want to go on the record for him. He is a magnificent scientist who is a physician.
