Dr Venn has been my daughter Sams dentist for about 12 yrs now and my older 2 children as well (who are too old to see him now, but wish they could.) Sam has never had a bad experience with his office in all that time. She has had to have teeth pulled due to injury when she was 4 and they had to cut into her gums to take out yet another tooth due to the root breaking in the gum area, and she came out with stitches saying "look momma, I look like a kitty" because the sutures stuck out like whiskers : ) Of course I was ready to pass out but thats another story!
In the beginning Dr Venn was getting ready to fix a cavity of one of my older kids and I said to her "now squeeze my hand if it hurts" and he asked to see me outside to explain "we dont use the words shots,pain,hurt etc here it puts that message in their brain that something is bad is going to happen" and he is right, my kids had no concept of what was going on when they had their teeth worked on. I am grateful to have found him and have referred many a children to him : )
The office has moved farther away, but I will drive the extra few miles when it comes to the comfort of my daughter and the well-being of her dental health. You have earned a great deal of respect from a mom who did not have the luxury of such a kind and understanding dentist as a child-you see I broke my 2 front permanent teeth when I was in 3rd grade and had a root canal in 4th grade and wish there would have been someone like you to help me through the trauma.
