Good News. Endodontics of Orange County, Peter Cancellier's Endodontic Specialty Practice is centered on creating a low stress, positive experience in every way. We are Professional, Understanding, Respectful, Caring, and Gentle. We use every available technique and medication to offer painless care. Our clinical goal is to provide endodontic treatment that helps your tooth function without discomfort for the rest of your life. We believe that with a commitment to excellence for every patient, properly diagnosed root canal treatment or re-treatment or root end surgery are desirable alternatives to extraction and a bridge or an implant. Dr. Cancellier has implant training and has placed implants, but he only performs endodontic treatment. Local implant dentists refer patients to him because they know he will not recommend endodontic treatment unless it is the appropriate choice.
For any dentist "Not as bad as I thought it would be" is a win. But we shoot for “Your staff is wonderful. This is a lovely office. I didn’t feel a thing”. At the one year check up we are looking for you to say "Which tooth did you work on? Everything feels great."
Honesty, for most people, getting a root canal treatment is no big deal. We put on the music that you like. We make sure the rest of your body is comfortable. Neck pillows, blankets, find a head and chair angle that is comfortable, lots of topical anesthetic, and maximum cheek wiggling during injections. If anxiety keeps you from scheduling, consider anti-anxiety medications or sedation to tolerate the procedure.

He worked in the flower business in Cardiff, California with his father before entering dental school. Dr. Cancellier obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1982. He practiced general dentistry in Los Angeles with Thurston Ross and Guy Ho, a member of the USC Dental School Hall of Fame.
In 1988, Dr. Cancellier completed a two year residency in endodontics at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, California. Since then he has practiced endodontics and taught endodontics.
