Please do not go to Vasco Alvaro DDS for a crown - UNLESS -you want to end paying another co-pay of $600 to have his work corrected. Unfortunately, this is my experience. The materials used are not as durable and long-lasting as I was told when "sold" on the premium porcelain crown. I am dumbfounded as to why my other crown that I have had for almost 18 YEARS has not needed to be replaced yet, a crown I have had for 5 YEARS, is showing “gaps” and needs to be replaced. I have now paid twice this crown. Total investment aprox. $1,200.
When I spoke to the lady running the back office, I was told that “There is no warranty” on dental work. The final x-ray of your crown looks beautiful. Insurance covers a new crown every 5 years so, that is what is considered the longevity of a crown. If Mr. Alvaro would have told me the crown is going to last about 5 years, I would have gotten the work done somewhere else.
Okay, I am a reasonable person; I know nothing last forever but 5 years for a crown when I have an existing crown that has lasted 18 years. I don’t care if the “final x-ray” looked beautiful. Obviously, the material used wore away after 5 years!
I guess this is the sign of the times, since insurance covers new crowns every 5 years, this dental office only has to insure that it lasts five year instead of the “long, long time” that they sell you on when you are in the chair.
Save yourself some time, energy and money and have your crown done with a different dental office.
