Horrible experience, avoid this place. I had been told this was a place where they would try to rip you off, but I couldn't believe it was true.
I would say they are by far the most greedy medical center I have ever seen.

I went for a cleaning, which was covered by my insurance, and since I was a new patient they did a "complete evaluation" including x-rays, etc. They recommended to redo all my fillings and a root canal I had done by my previous dentist in the past, which was weird to me (total $2500). They also claimed I had to complete all that work before doing the cleaning, which was ridiculous. I asked for the service I came to this place to begin with and I was told they would have to do a special cleaning where I had to pay over $200 arguing that it was the best for my health. At some point I was in a very uncomfortable situation with the doctor and their staff telling me I had to do this and insisting that it was necessary. Of course, I refused to follow their plan, especially because I wasn't thinking on spending $2,500 that day.

So, I had to make time to go to another place so they can give me a second opinion. Although my new dentist did recommend some care, he regarded most of the suggestions as unnecessary. It seems that it is a regular practice for Sunwest dentists "redo" any previous fillings or procedures in the best way for their financial interests. They are not interested in your health but the most expensive plan of treatment they can devise so they make the most out the situation charging you and your insurance company or charging you anyways. I agree Dr. Stinson is a very good dentist but he is no longer part of this system. Well everybody you may like their dental services , however, their billing system is horrible and threatened me with not paying a bill after being advised at time of service that I had no co- payment at all at date of SERVICE. Sunwest waits at least 6 months later, sends a cover letter telling the customer some 3rd party billing company made a mistake and are sorry for their inconvenience, and on THE OTHER HALF OF their billing statement state if you don't pay the amount they immediately threatened me with a collection agency. MIND YOU, I WAS ADVISED AT THIS DATE OF SERVICE I OWED NOTHING. I KNOW THE BILLING COMPANY IF THEY RECEIVED A BILL LIKE THIS NONE OF THEM WOULD PAY IT SO WHY DO THEY HAVE TOO THREATEN A CUSTOMER. The bill doesn't even state when the service occurred, nor did they try to contact me to discuss the situation, so I could contact the insurance company and obtain and EXPLANATION OF BENEFITS , NOR DID THEIR BILLING DEPT PROVIDE THIS STATEMENT IN THEIR REASON FOR WANTING MORE MONEY. THEY HAVE JUST LOST A RETURNING CUSTOMER AND AT LEAST 2 REFERRALS WHICH WOULD HAVE SERVED THEM WELL OVER THE YEARS.
