I have been to Dr. Zakany twice over the past 6 or so years, in both instances I selected him because he was the only physician at the practice I visit that was available to see me quickly. The first time was for a sports related knee injury that was extremely painful. He took an x-ray and pulled and prodded at my knee for a few minutes before sending me home with a precription for ibuprofen and told me to pick up some crutches and take it easy for a while, but there was no serious injury. After several weeks, the pain was still so severe that I visited a specialist and using the same x-ray Dr. Zakany looked at, he pointed out several fragements from the end of my femur that were floating around in my knee area resulting in my knee locking up and the severe pain. I had to have surgery. I realize doctors are not perfect and errors occur and as unimpressed as I was with Zakany's manner and level of care, I still visited him a few months ago for another issue with vertigo. It was a problem that was becoming chronic (and still occurs) and my investigation of the potential causes had me concerned plus, I was unable to drive so it truly affects my ability to be productive. I scheduled an appt. and when the nurse I talked to about my problem with told me he was the only doctor available and I hesitated based on my past enounter. But, I went ahead and scheduled an appt. What a waste of a $20 copay and whatever he charged my insurance, not to mention arranging a ride for a short visit where I was told I 'probably' had benign positional vertigo and I could go home and GOOGLE the treatement. I didn't get the impression that he particularly interested in hearing about how I felt or what seemed to trigger the problem and interrupted me repeatedly or, seemed to not even listen. I am not the kind of person who feels comfortable visiting the doctor for things that might be nothing and he made me feel like I had done just that. Also, the treatment I was told me to google seems to require the assistance of a physician or therapist, so I couldn't even do it by myself. In my opinion he is an un caring physician and do not recommend going to him.
