Less than impressed, for sure. Seemed like a nice guy. But a bit paternalistic and patronizing. Didn't speak to me like I'm intelligent about my own healthcare. Wasn't able to look at signs and symptoms as a whole sum, instead focusing on textbook definitions of clinical significance. It is well known that laboratory values, while vital in clinical trials, are not sufficient by themselves to individuals in clinical practice (at least in public health, my field, so I would think doctors in clinical practice should know). Not going to get labs done, since I could tell he will not bother to think about interpreting them based on my individual factors (supplements, etc.). Told that 5.4 A1c and 91 FPG are "normal" and not insulin resistant, but literature says otherwise (as does my body). Told that teenage-boy-level hormonal, cystic acne unresponsive to all treatments short of Accutane (I'm a woman in my 30's) is "genetic" but offered no other explanation or treatment recommendations, as if I'm supposed to accept that genetic deficiencies should be sucked up and lived with (imagine saying that to someone with muscular dystrophy, juvenile diabetes, etc.). Felt ignored and not entitled to treatment. I self-treat with supplements that have peer-reviewed evidence (myo-inositol, DIM, vitex, vitamins), since this is all that is available to me, and these do help a great deal. But I want a diagnosis for my hormonal issues and infertility with the care of a physician, not solely the internet. The attitude of this practice is avowed that supplements are not "medical practice" (not sure what that means - there's no money in them so no pharma trials, but there are plenty of interventional investigator trials). So wouldn't talk to me at all about supplements and not interested in my bbt/CM charting. Basically told there is nothing wrong with me so I can't be treated. Told to seek counseling/psychiatry. This isn't an organic brain issue, it's a hormone regulation issue, so not sure what that could do for me, and came across as very "them womens are so hysterical." Was told he, "can't shut off my ovaries." Not sure why I would want that, since I'd like to get pregnant and not have any more missed miscarriages. Probably a good practice to visit if you're textbook. But no consideration of the whole person or of those possibly in the two-tails/5% of the normal curve. I expect to continue to have trouble/impossibility in getting pregnant, and if I am lucky enough, I fully expect to miscarry again, and it's very difficult to get any medical care or even recommendations.
