Dr. Andrews made rude comments in front of my eldest daughter, thus causing a rift in my daughter's and my relationship. I then moved my case from his practice and was subsequently diagnosed at NIH. Director of research study I was in at NIH looked at UCI records and commented that she had never seen such negligent abuse in a medical case before. She even cried about how I had been treated by this UCI physician. His expertise was truly needed, and when he couldn't figure out the case he chose to spin me out of the office by using insults.

I saw Dr. Andrews years ago, in approximately 1988. I needed to do some background research for a Clinical trial and was prompted by this website to give him a review. I am happy to say that Dr. Andrews was a delightful person, very helpful and willing to answer my questions. I was very new to the disease and in a bit of denial so I can't say I asked many questions, however, I remember him as kind, respectful and having a good sense of humor. He once told me something that has been so valuable to me over the years which was to remember that Rheumatologists can never cure this chronic disease and most doctors go into the profession so they can cure people. As a result, doctors who treat incurable diseases could be negative and frustrated or depressed sometimes and to imagine how that would make some of them feel. His advice has helped me to remember doctors are people too. He also said it was common for people with chronic illnesses to change doctors and that if I needed to leave one doctor for another, it would not be unusual at all. Recently I decided to change doctors and did so easily because I remembered once again Dr. Andrew's comments, which helped me do what I wanted to do without guilt or remorse. That was not, however, why I left him! I saw him at UCI and a nurse placed me with another doctor one day because of a scheduling problem. That doctor impressed me a great deal (was with him for 13 years) so I did take Dr. Andrew's advice and changed. The new doctor also left UCI and moved his office closer to my office or I probably would have gone back to Dr. Andrews if it had been more convenient to do so. I highly admired and definitely recommend him. He is(or was anyway) a Good Doctor with a great accent!
