He may be the rudest, most arrogant man in practice.

Worse is the way he treats his staff. I admire them for their toleration, but suffer for them that they must. At least I have a CHOICE not to continue as his patient.

He seems smart, and his treatment plan for my heal pain may well have been spot on, but his communication skills were extremely poor. He talked more to his tape recorder than to me, and during one visit he spent at least 20, possibly 30 minutes on the phone outside the door to the room I was in, chatting to a colleague he later said he's spoken to once a week for the past 25 years (so why during my time?) He was extremely testy about any questions about alternate treatments - and gave inconsistent information about why they were inappropriate, which they may well have been - and when I was less than enthusiastic about the idea of using crutches he assumed I was refusing to so, and simply told me I would not get well. (The only treatment I refused to follow was the walking cast that caused extreme pain to the knee I had had replaced a couple years ago.) My last visit he asked me how my heel was doing after physical therapy and medication, which was actually much better, became angry when my partner asked if a shot would be appropriate, then told me to come back in month without offering prescriptions for more physical therapy or anti-inflamatories. My ASSUMPTION was that he thought after a month of no treatment I'd be in enough pain that I would docilely follow his instructions. He was extremely condescending, as well.
