A wonderful teacher and a delightful and caring person

While Dr Raj may have diagnosed my mother properly- multiple myeloma - she did not treat her properly nor did she tell her the truth. My mother was 80 when she got shingles- and she suffered what she thought was neuropathy as a result of the shingles. She was in horrible pain but was stubborn - she had shingles and that was that! She voo doo doctored herself and saw back doctors and muscle doctors ---- they gave her pain meds and told her to go home. Then she basically OD'd on pain meds and was rushed to the hospital unable to move or get out of bed. She was hallucinating, dehydrated and had pneumonia - ALL symptoms of something else..... all symptoms of multiple myeloma - and later we found out that shingles are a symptom of multiple myeloma as well- It was in the ER that I ordered every test I could for every part of her body as I knew it was not shingles only! Dr Raj came in along with all the other types of specialists while mom was still in the ER. All of her blood, urine and scans came back with many issues. Dr Raj -I could tell --knew what mom had. In the end she was biopsied and properly diagnosed with stage 3 (final stage) Multiple Myeloma. When I researched it - at her age and with her staging she had months to live- BUT Dr Raj told my mother she would live - and would be dancing in her office a year from diagnosis. SHE DIED 80 days later. Dr Raj put her on an aggressive therapy of Thalidomide which cost $18,000 a month. There was a program to defer the costs but the meds had terrible side effects and while on the meds, everything worsened. She only saw my mother once in the hospital, and once her office. All other times I had to call to report her worsening symptoms only to be told "I was bad for my mothers health"-- I was bad for her health? NO she was. She lied, she was not available to see my mother and she left her treatment in the hands of nurses. Dr Raj over treated her, and her last visit to her office her nurses wouldn't even change her bed sore bandage because the bandage cost 80 dollars. They were rude and her office felt like a makeshift clinic. It is old, and dirty and there are boxes everywhere. There wasn't ever enough room in her waiting room and moms wheel chair didn't fit in her office. It was just overall horrible. My mother stood at 5'8 or 5'9 in her life and weighed 150 for the most part. The last visit on the Friday before she died she stood at 5'3 and weighed and 118. BUT she was going dance in a year--- my mother died the Monday after she was seen by Raj's nurses who administered a shot into her stomach of another drug - I think that is what killed her. She went into failure and died in less than 72 hours. I wanted Dr Raj to sign her death certificate - I wanted to look at her across the table and say to her- NOW WHO IS NOT GOOD FOR MY MOTHER's health. Yes, my mother would have died. Yes my mother had cancer- BUT dr Raj played god with her and told her to believe something that was not true and treated her with expensive medications that had horrible side effects. When I called Dr Raj to tell her mother was dead, she didn't believe me. She is delusional. I wonder if she got a kick back from the drug companies.... There was no reason for her to treat my mother. She should have just managed her pain. She maybe a good diagnostician but I WOULD never let her treat anyone. She treats the cancer not the patient. Get her diagnosis if you have to - if she is on call in the hospital - then get another opinion and don't let her treat you or a loved one.
