My visits to the facility have been great, but just getting in and/or getting questions answered is a nightmare. If you have any medical questions between visits you have to call the "Medical Question Helpline" and leave a message for someone to get back to you. Ok, maybe this person has access to my chart, and is educated enough to answer my questions, but I've never seen this person, or had any previous rapport with them, so why should I feel comfortable having a complete stranger answer my health questions? Not to mention that I've only been visiting this facility for about a year, and they have none of my previous records because my former physician's office closed without notice. So when I voiced concerns about changing a medication because of a reaction I'd had to another med I'd been prescribed 10 years prior to my visits to this facility, they just said, "Oh we just won't prescribe another medication from that family" (as in the medication I was currently on). The medication I was currently on was not the one that I was concerned about having an adverse reaction to, although the prescription I was currently on wasn't working like it used to - it was the one that I had taken 10 years ago that I couldn't recall the name of - and if they didn't have my previous medical records, whose to say that they weren't going to prescribe that med or another like it?

I have had some unpleasant side effects from the new medicine that they prescribed me, but when I called the helpline to voice my concerns I never received a call back. Not to mention when I did speak to them prior to the switch I felt as if the person on the other end of the line was only half listening to what I had to say. I really would have preferred to schedule an appointment and speak with my healthcare provider but the voice of authority on the other end of the phone said, "Oh we'll just prescribe you another medication." So here we are playing prescription roulette until we find one that works.

And I have to say I don't even know why they make yearly exam appointments - I've attempted to schedule a yearly at my last 2 exams and each time they call about a month beforehand and tell me that they'll have to reschedule. I guess perhaps if I were one of the pregnant patients in the office I would get preferential treatment, but since I'm just a regular patient with a history of irregular cycles my needs aren't as pressing as the rest. I wouldn't be so critical of this aspect if it had happened once, but it's happened for the second year in a row - my yearly exam used to take place in August - now I'm looking at having my next exam in January of next year. I even referred my mother to this office after her gyn stopped practicing, and they rescheduled her first appointment 2 months later as well. She hadn't even scheduled a year out - you'd think they'd be able to manage their schedules a little better than this - I understand that emergencies do come up, but not every time some schedules a general exam.
