I was referred to Dr. Contreras by my fertility doctor because a pelvic MRI showed that I had a tumor roughly the size of a cantoloupe, and I needed a surgeon that could perform the surgery. Unfortunately, I found the office much more like a medical factory, and Dr. Contreras to be curt, arrogant and very unhelpful. She did not take the time to thoroughly explain the MRI findings and only discussed a portion of it with me. During the examination she did not warn me as to what she was about to do next, and she did not even meet with me in her office, she would only speak to me and my mother in the examination room. As you can imagine I was experiencing severe acute pain, and tried to phone her for two days straight as to what I should do without ever receiving a return call from her. Her nurse did get on the phone and recommend that I see my primary care doctor to assess the pain or to go to the emergency room to assess the pain. I chose not to go to Emergency because I feared for my fertility and didn't want to be seen by a 2 year resident. She never took the time to discuss my fertility options with me and gave me short yes no answers to all my questions. I have since moved on to another Gynecological Oncologist and have been receiving excellent care. I caution anyone against seeing Dr. Contreras particulary if you have serious issues such as Endometriosis, Cancer, Tumors, etc. She will not take the time to properly treat you both physically and mentally.
